Hello all, last season we had a little confusion regarding some of the guidelines for the series. One of my goals for the season is to do a better job at conveying the series guidelines to all participants.

The main body of the series guidelines will come straight from the 2006 NORBA Rulebook. The NORBA rulebook can be accessed at the USA Cycling website (http://www.usacycling.org/) or can be found in the files section of the IORCA Yahoo Groups website. This does not mean that you need to purchase a NORBA license to do all of the races for 2006. Please refer to the 2006 IORCA Schedule in the files section of this site for a listing of all IORCA races that will require a NORBA license.

Not all of the rules in the NORBA rulebook are applicable to a series like the IMBCS. So we’ve gone through the NORBA rulebook and modified a few of the rules. These are listed below:

- No headphones, earbuds, or anything similar will be allowed on course during any race. It does not matter if it is a two-way radio, iPod, or a Walkman.

- In order for a racer to qualify for a series overall award, the participant must compete in a minimum of five IMBCS series races. If you only participate in five events and you happen to DNF in one or more of them, you will still qualify for a series overall award at the end of the season.

- There will be a total of ten IMBCS races for the 2006 season. A participants seven best scores will count towards their series overall score. If you choose to do more than seven races, you will receive ten additional points for each race beyond seven that you do for a maximum of 30 additional points.

- Series points will only be tabulated for the sport and expert class.

- Age groups within each class will be as follows:

Expert - Men Open
Expert - Masters Men 35 and over
Expert - Women Open

Sport - Men Open
Sport - Men 35 and over
Sport - Men 45 and over
Sport - Single Speed Open
Sport - Women Open
Sport - Junior Boys 18 and under
Sport - Junior Girls 18 and under

Beginner classes will be determined by each race director.

- Series scoring will be on a weighted scoring system based on the number of participants in each age category, within each class. Points will be scored as follows:

If a participant chooses to do the entire stage race, then that person could potentially earn 60 extra points for Saturdays events (for a stage race that included a time trial, hill climb and short track), in addition to the full compliment of points available at the cross country race on Sunday.
If a participant only chooses to do Saturdays events, then that person can only score a maximum of 60 points (for a stage race that included a time trial, hill climb and short track).
If a participant only wishes to do Sundays cross country race, then they can and still score series points as if it were a normal single day cross country race.
